Family Trauma

Families are all unique, with their own systems, culture, behaviors and language. Not always, but often this can come with passed down trauma sometimes going back generations. Accepted or hidden abuse, addiction, and historical maltreatment (Holocaust, slavery) are a just a few examples.

A lot of use are catching these as we become parents or adults, notice other families or find we don’t love our own behaviors towards our children, families, or friends. Or after adult children, family or friends point out behaviors or even cut contact.

This can be a shocking realization, coupled with fear, grief, anger and a host of other feelings. This doesn’t need to be navigated alone. If any of this sounds like you, here are some ways I can support you
